The Moundford Free Methodist Church Thanksgiving Basket Project began after member Terry Mason recognized a mission opportunity. Mason put together a small team of church members to obtain food, pack and distribute several hundred baskets at Thanksgiving.

In only two years, the project outgrew the church basement and moved to the old Armory Building on Eldorado. Last year 250 people packed 2,500 boxes in less than two hours.

The Moundford Free Methodist Church Thanksgiving Basket Project

The Moundford Free Methodist Church Thanksgiving Basket Project began after member Terry Mason recognized a mission opportunity. Mason put together a small team of church members to obtain food, pack and distribute several hundred baskets at Thanksgiving.

In only two years, the project outgrew the church basement and moved to the old Armory Building on Eldorado. Last year 250 people packed 2,500 boxes in less than two hours.

For 2006, the project moves to the old Eagle Food store on East US Route 36.  Mason estimates 3,000 baskets containing fifteen to twenty food items will be delivered.  Over 300 volunteers will help prepare and distribute boxes.

Through this outreach, corporate funding and private sponsorship, 100% of all funds raised goes for food in the baskets. Approximately 30 local charities, churches and social organizations are recipients of these.

Mason and his volunteers are committed to investing within our community to improve the quality of life, and enhance relations with the people who live here

EEE members and parents will again join those participating.  This is a great opportunity to help our neighbors and give back to the Decatur community.
